Intertek offers on-site lift and escalator surveys conducted by our engineers to ensure proper maintenance and reduce safety risks.
Lift/Escalator Safety
Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. With thousands of skyscrapers, lifts and escalators have become an indispensable part of our daily lives. Currently, there are over 70,000 lifts and escalators operating in Hong Kong and, according to the Government of Hong Kong’s Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), over 2,000 related incidents were reported in 2017 alone. It is thus not surprising that public concern over the safety of lifts and escalators has sharply increased over the years and people are now demanding more reliable maintenance systems.
As a Global Total Quality Assurance provider, Intertek strives to ensure our customers’ interests are well protected. Customers can count on our professional team of Engineers, Loss Adjusters and Surveyors.
What we do:
Intertek provides an on-site lifts/escalators survey service carried out by our engineers to ensure the subject lift/escalator is well maintained so as to minimize hazardous factors.
Our surveyors could also act as your representatives to perform an inspection on any damaged lift/escalator, including water damage, mechanic malfunctioning, wear and tear issues, etc. Their job is to define the cause of damage, perform an assessment and review, check the repair/reinstatement process and quotation, and provide third-party opinion on the subject lift/escalator’s necessary repair/reinstatement cost.
