UL 2272 Standard
According to US CSPC, there were 52 reported fire incidents caused by hoverboards during three months between 2015 and 2016. This has resulted in more than US$2 million worth of property damages.
The scope of UL2272 was then expanded to the testing of e-mobility devices, including e-scooters and e-skateboards in 2018. UL 2272 is a system approach to evaluate battery safety in personal e-mobility devices. The tests are in four major categories:
