Sharing insights on new generation plastics for a more sustainable future
On Jul 22, Intertek Hong Kong was invited by the Hong Kong Plastics Industry Council (HKPIC) to be a guest speaker at the “Demo Day on the New Generation Plastics: The Latest Application and Trend of the Industry”, under the auspices of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI).
The Demo Day is a signature event of HKPIC. It serves as an opportunity for local manufacturers to showcase their state-of-the-art plastic materials and sustainable technologies to other industry practitioners. The event welcomed more than 200 visitors and exhibitors, ranging from sustainable product manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers, such as the Environmental Industries Council and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP).
This year’s highlight was the afternoon seminar covering the latest industry policies and technological development on new generation plastics, allowing industry leaders to exchange ideas and explore potential business opportunities.
At the seminar, Sammiel Li, Senior Manager, Intertek Central Chemical Laboratory, spoke on the topic of “Bioplastics: International test standards, markings, regulations and future trends”. Leveraging his expertise, Sammiel shared with the audience the regulations and standards in China, the US and Europe. He also talked about the testing and certification schemes for bioplastics, as well as the future trends in the plastic industry.
Says Sammiel: “Intertek values sustainability as it is part of our vision to achieve Net Zero by 2050. As a Total Quality Assurance provider, we pride ourselves on helping organisations achieve and validate their sustainability goals for their products and services.”
“It was an invaluable opportunity to share our insights on green testing and certification with everyone. Be it manufacturers, service providers, public bodies, or government departments, we are ready to help our clients demonstrate their sustainable commitment,” he added.
Being a close partner of HKPIC and FHKI, we were honoured to be part of this amazing event.
