Accelerating the rate of change and transforming Hong Kong towards sustainability
On Oct 5-6, Intertek Hong Kong exhibited at ReThink HK 2022 with tremendous success. Playing a leading role as one of the key Event Sponsors, we are glad to be leading Hong Kong towards a more sustainable future.
ReThink is one of Hong Kong’s most attended business events for sustainable development. Organised by ReThink HK, the event includes multiple conferences, workshops and showcase expos. This year, the exhibition has seen more than 2,000 attendees, representing over 700 organisations from across Hong Kong’s business ecosystem. Industry leaders and stakeholders shared insights from a Hong Kong context and integrated them into their sustainable strategies.
Our booth proudly displayed our testing capabilities for a wide array of electronics and appliances. Intertek offers rigorous conformity assessment so that safety and durability of these products can be ensured. Representatives from the electronics industry and the electric vehicle industry have shown keen interest in our services.
We highlighted our sustainability services which help organisations achieve their sustainability initiatives in areas such as food, textile, automotive, energy, building and construction, helping our clients to utilize resources efficiently and achieve carbon reduction, which impressed many visitors.
Beside sustainability services, we also presented our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Data and Reporting programme. Leveraging our auditing and advisory capabilities, we guide companies through all aspects of their ESG strategic development.
Another highlight is our Vegan Certification - a comprehensive overview on suppliers, ingredients, packaging materials and the food production process. We offer advice so that our clients can meet the requirements for certification and demonstrate the integrity of their vegan products.
As an ardent supporter of sustainability and a long-standing partner of the Business Environment Council (BEC), we were honored to meet and exchange ideas with BEC Chairman Mr Kevin O’Brien and CEO Mr Simon Ng, and the Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr Tse Chin-wan.
Our Electrical Vice President, Jason Ho, was invited to be one of the speakers at the session “Tech Talks: Sustainable Technologies”. With the mobility sector amounting to approximately 20% GHG emissions in Hong Kong, Electric Vehicles (EV) and Personal Light Electric Vehicles (PLEV) could be the key to a more sustainable future while compliance with the safety requirements is paramount. In view of their importance to Hong Kong, he shared his knowledge on the topic of “Safeguarding Smart Mobility in Hong Kong from EV to PLEV”.
Says Jason: “Echoing Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2050, Intertek strives to be a force for positive change in combating climate change and achieving carbon neutrality. As a Total Quality Assurance Provider, we aim to help our clients demonstrate their commitment to the protection of the environment, while meeting all the relevant safety standards. We have setup the first safety PLEV safety testing laboratory this year when most recognised test standards such as UL2272, IEC60335-2-114 and EN17128 are covered. Today, we are not only developing testing capabilities for PLEV but also EV and EV Supply Equipment (EVSE) importing to the region.”
