Presenting Global Market Access Platform and Total Sustainability Assurance services
Intertek Hong Kong exhibited at the 49th Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair 2023 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) with great success. The Toys and Games Fair is the first significant joint trade show since the easing of entry restrictions across border in Hong Kong.
Organised by The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) under the theme of “Play To Bond · Family and Beyond”, the fair showcased a wide variety of products ranging from traditional toys to high-tech games, from famed names to emerging brands.
During the 4-day event, Intertek Hong Kong proudly displayed our testing capabilities for a wide range of toys and gaming products. We particularly highlighted our Global Market Access (GMA) Portal. GMA is a convenient one-stop knowledge portal that offers global compliance information, including regulatory sheet, test plan, recall summary and gap analysis based on product type across 40 different global markets. Our GMA experience kiosk at the booth welcomed many visitors to try and browse aby products’ compliance information they need for their entire product lifecycle.
Invited by the Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification, William Wong, Assistant General Manager, Toys and Hardlines, spoke at a seminar themed “Toys Compliance, Testing & Certification”, in which he introduced the latest requirements of both French Triman logo and Italian recycling labelling. Chemical laboratory General Manager Mr Tom Hun also spoke at the seminar "Toy Safety & Regulations Updates”, presenting updates on chemical safety regulations update and major recall cases around the globe.
This year, we were so honoured to be collecting numerous safe, tested toys from our customers. All the toys have been sent to the Refugee Union and the Holy Café. Refugee Union is Hong Kong’s first refugee-led registered society. The Union protects claimants in Hong Kong with the aim of safeguarding refugee rights and improving the protection, wellbeing and future prospect of all refugees. Holy Café is a social enterprise that provides employment opportunities to young talents who are intellectually challenged.
Says Dorothy Lau, Director, Toys & Hardlines, who is one of the leaders of the GMA project: “Intertek has already embarked on a digitalisation roadmap that aims to take our testing operations to the next level and deliver great value to our customers. We are striving to upgrade our efficiency and to pursue the deployment of big data and technology in our operations.
“As a leading total quality service provider, we are committed to supporting customers to shorten their production time and avoid hiccups, which is important for a long-term sustainability to any business sectors.”
