Strengthening ties and facilitating trade with Saudi Arabia.

The Hong Kong SAR Government’s mission to Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries in early 2023 marked an important step towards expanding cooperation and relationships with this relatively untapped market for Hong Kong business. In the past, for historical reasons, Hong Kong focused its attention and trade on the Mainland, Europe and America. However during this mission, it was clear that countries, chambers of commerce and business in Middle East were eager to build stronger ties with Hong Kong.

As a result, many Hong Kong businesses are reaping the benefits of engaging closely with Saudi Arabia. At the official meeting on 21 March 2023, Alice Cheung, Reginal Commercial Director for GTS Asia, was invited by Asia and Africa Committee of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the oldest and one of the largest business organizations in Hong Kong, to give speech on the topic “Trade with Saudi Arabia: Points to note on trade Compliance”

“Saudi Araba was one of the fastest-growing major economies in 2022, due to the vision in the government, which has brought about a culture of rapid change to fulfill Saudi Vision 2030.” Alice Cheung urged Hong Kong companies to capitalize on this new era of growth, and Intertek is ready to support businesses in both areas to overcome trade compliance challenges.
