Showcasing Global Leadership in Total Quality Assurance for All Categories of Toys

Intertek Global Hardlines recently participated in NY TOY FAIR 2023 with great success. As one of the event sponsors, Intertek also supported the Toy Safety Update 2023 at the event, with the theme aligned to our "You’ll be Amazed" campaign.

The NY Toy Fair is an annual toy industry trade show held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and various toy showrooms throughout the city. The event is exclusively open to toy industry professionals, retailers, and press representatives. It is organised by The Toy Association and has been a tradition since 1903. The Toy Fair is widely recognised as the largest toy trade show in the Western hemisphere.

The landscape of the toy industry has evolved, and the most iconic trade show in the business of play is evolving with it. This year's theme for the NY Toy Fair was "Reimagine Play," and Intertek's approach focused on showcasing our innovations, sustainability, and ATIC solutions for the new age toys.

The Intertek team created an impressive presence at the show with strength in display and a tastefully designed physical booth. Experts from both North America and Hong Kong were present at the event, making it a technically sound enriching experience for the visitors. The team highlighted Intertek’s toy testing capabilities through a newly designed Toys Brochure and a Pet Toys brochure, showcasing our Total Quality Assurance capabilities, ATIC service offerings, extensive global coverage, and technical expertise. However, it was Intertek’s Global Market Access offerings, access to Intertek Technical Expertise, and Pet Product Testing that garnered the most attention. The team generated an impressive 70 active leads from the event.

Roque Corona, Vice President, Global Retail Management said:

“The New York Toy Fair is indeed one of the most significant events in the toy industry, serving as a hub for showcasing new and innovative toys and games. The fair attracts professionals and companies from around the world who are involved in various aspects of the toy industry, including manufacturers, retailers, and industry experts, and Intertek is proud to be a part of that. It's always an excellent opportunity for networking, business development, and finding the latest products in all forms and stages of play. Intertek, as a leader in the toy and juvenile products testing industry, plays a crucial role in ensuring that toys and related products meet safety and quality standards. This is particularly important in the toy industry, where product safety is a top priority, and regulatory compliance is crucial.”

Sean Thompson, Global Account Manager in New York, shared his valuable insights from the event:

"STEM toys and toys with connections to apps and social media are gaining popularity and represent areas of rapid growth. In terms of customer requirements, expectations related to testing and inspection services include obtaining technical consultations from experts, detailed report explanations, and assistance in complying with regulations as value-added services."

John Luzzi, Senior Director, Global Account Management, shared his heartfelt message on his long-term association with Toy Fair:

“For 35 consecutive years, I've been present at the Toy Fair without fail, braving even the worst snowstorms. Intertek has maintained a presence at this fair for approximately 30 years, and I've personally manned our booth for 25 of those years. After the pandemic, everyone was excited to be back at the center of all, New York Toy Fair. There really was an electric feel in the air, and people were genuinely glad to stop and chat. Hopefully, some of these chats will lead to new clients, or at least re-establishing old ones. It was also nice to see that Intertek is one of the sole full-service TIC companies that still do exhibit. This gives us that competitive advantage. The show was a good success!”
