INTERTEK HONG KONG HOSTS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 2023
13 Nov 2023
A United Stand for Awareness, Early Detection, and Enhanced Treatment
Intertek Hong Kong proudly participated in the Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2023. With the involvement of our enthusiastic staff and families, the team sought to spread awareness about the disease, encourage regular health check-ups, and emphasise the importance of early detection.
Many teams across all functions and Business Lines lent their support to the Pink Ribbon Sticker activity, proudly wearing the global symbol of unity in the battle against breast cancer. In an act of solidarity, they shared pictures and posts that raised awareness about this disease, which affects women and men alike across the globe.
In a commendable move, the Human resources department launched exclusive health check-up plans for all staff members. These plans are designed to foster a culture of health consciousness, encourage early detection, and stress the importance of regular screenings.
Intertek’s operations have consistently prioritised the health and wellbeing of its people and the broader community. Intertek has played an instrumental role in the global healthcare landscape, including the recent contribution to the development of a second-generation breast cancer treatment. When the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had concerns about the immune response in study samples during clinical trials, resulting in a hold on the trial, Intertek independently tested the data and helped assess and resolve the issue.
Grace Li, Intertek Greater China Human Resources Vice President and Hong Kong Management said:
"Our team's commitment during Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a reflection of their dedication to social responsibility. By promoting health consciousness and regular screenings, we are contributing to the fight against this disease. Together, we can hope for a healthier, cancer-free future."
Early detection of breast cancer through regular screening and enhanced treatment can decrease mortality rates by 25–30%. We aim to provide the city with available information and easily accessible professional support for those living with or affected by cancer. The Pink Ribbon worn this October is more than a symbol—it's a call to action for greater awareness surrounding the issue of breast cancer.
