Presenting Sustainability Solutions and Certification to the Eyewear Industry

Intertek Hong Kong was honoured to present at the Hong Kong International Optical Fair 2023. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the fair is one of the leading optical events globally, featuring innovative eyewear and related technologies from international brands.

The 3-day event attracted around 100 well-known brands around the world, showcasing a diverse range of eyewear products and smart technologies, providing an excellent platform for industry networking and exchange of market intelligence.

As the eyewear industry faces increasing pressure to address sustainability concerns, Toys & Hardlines Business Development Director Michael Chan, presented at the seminar themed "Sustainability Solutions and Certification in Eyewear Industry".

Michael highlighted the issues of waste and pollution, including the problem of microplastics, that arise from optical products. He also pointed out key regulations that should not be overlooked when sourcing sustainable manufacturing materials for eyewear. Emphasising the role of Intertek’s solutions, which extend beyond offering sustainability solutions to top-tier suppliers, to providing a more comprehensive consultation and advisory services throughout the entire supply chain.
