Bringing Joy and Hope to Children in Need
Intertek Hong Kong, graced with the support of clients, delivered some tested toys to the charity Box of Hope, which will help bring a little joy to vulnerable children in Asia.
Box of Hope is a non profit-making organisation founded in 2008 by Nicole Woolhouse and Harriet Cleverly, two mothers driven by the desire to teach their children about child poverty.
The mission is first, to bring joy to vulnerable children in Asia, and second, to educate young minds about poverty and how they can impact by sharing gifts with families living with extremely limited resources.
The charity along with schools and the CSR community, teach schoolchildren the concept of poverty in a way which is easy to understand, through the simple act of packing a box of gifts and essential items for a child who is less fortunate than themselves.
Many of these children are thrilled to receive a small gift and something which they can take ownership of. There is also a significant impact on the children who are giving, as they become more aware of the world around them.
What began as a family project has grown into a huge initiative where the charity collected over 41,232 boxes in 2023. Since its establishment, Box of Hope has distributed 354,565 gift boxes to children in need.
Grace Li, Greater China Vice President of Human Resources and Hong Kong Management, said:
“Joining forces with our clients, we are proud to support this remarkable initiative that spreads happiness to underprivileged children in our community. Box of Hope means exactly that. A box filled with hope. It’s about children helping children. Intertek China will continue supporting our local community and spreading the importance of quality, safety and sustainability to all walks of life.”
