ISTA 6-Amazon.com-SIOC challenges the capability of both package and product to withstand transportation hazards that are typically encountered during transportation and handling.
Below is a list of the eight different Packaged-Product Test Types under ISTA 6-Amazon.com-SIOC:
- Type A is for parcel delivery of individually packaged products less than 50 lb. (23 kg) and Girth equal to or less than 165" (4.19m).
- Type B is for parcel delivery of individually packaged products 50 lb. (23 kg) to less than 100 lb. (45 kg) and Girth equal to or less than 165" (4.19m).
- Type C is for parcel delivery packaged products 100 lb. (45 kg) or greater and Girth equal to or less than 165" (4.19m).
- Type D is for Less-Than-Truckload delivery of individually packaged products less than 100 lb. (45 kg) or Girth greater than 165" (4.19m).
- Type E is for Less-Than-Truckload delivery of individually packaged products 100 lb. (45 kg) or greater or Girth greater than 165" (4.19m).
- Type F is for Less-Than-Truckload delivery of individual palletized packaged products.
- Type G is for parcel delivery of TV/Monitor individual packaged products less than 150 lb. (68 kg) and Girth equal to or less than 165" (4.19m).
- Type H is for Less-Than-Truckload delivery of TV/Monitor individual packaged products 150 lb. (68 kg) or greater or Girth greater than 165" (4.19m).
